Paragonimus species
Paragonimus species, adult
Adults of Paragonimus species are described as "coffee bean" shaped, measuring approximately 1 cm in length. As with most other human parasitic flukes, they are hermaphrodites and have oral and ventral suckers.
Paragonimus species, eggs
The eggs of Paragonimus species are relatively large, measuring 80-120 micrometers long by 45-70 micrometers wide, with a moderately-thick yellow-brown shell and a shouldered operculum. The abopercular region is commonly thickened but does not contain a knob. Eggs may be found in stool or sputum.
