Hymenolepis diminuta
Hymenolepis diminuta, eggs
The eggs of Hymenolepis diminuta have a similar appearance to those of the more common parasite, Rodentolepis nana (formerly Hymenolepis nana), with both an inner and outer membrane and presence of a 6-hooked oncosphere. However, unlike R. nana, the space between the membranes is smooth or faintly granular, and does not contain polar filaments extending into the space. They are also slightly larger, measuring size 70 - 85 µm X 60 - 80 µm.
