Cryptosporidium species
Cryptosporidium species, tissue
Cryptosporidiosis is occasionally diagnosed by microscopic examination of hematoxylin and eosin-stained tissue biopsies. The organisms appear as small round objects at the luminal surface of the intestine (arrow heads). Although they appear to be superficially-located, they are intracellular, lying just below the enterocyte cell membrane.
